Fabric Paintings, 2013
In the series "Fabric Paintings," I wash old oil paintings again and again in my washing machine until there is very little left of the original painting but a stained cloth. Sometimes all that is left of my painting is the shape of the original folds and edges created by the stretching, a jar-like shape. Because these pieces of cloth are still beautiful paintings to me, I add sewn elements in an effort to show their preciousness and emphasize details that have been lost in the washing process. I present the paintings as ancient relics, displayed on black fabric and framed under glass.

These are paintings without any real paint on them. They explore the physical and emotional properties of paint and paintings. At the same time, they are an attempt to reinvent abstract painting for myself by making paintings that are both abstract and conceptual in nature.
