Poured series, 1999
In the "Poured" series, I recreate some of the paint formulas used by artists in the Renaissance and employ them to make paintings that are organic and abstract. After laboriously preparing the paint and canvas, I pour paint on the canvas and wait for it to spread out and form a composition. The act of creating each these paintings takes less than one minute, but the works take anywhere from 6 months to three years to stabilize. In this series, I am exploring ideas of time and physical contact.
